u Holly Hughes
Obie-winning writer and notorious poster girl for free expression, Holly Hughes returns to the stage with a new solo piece: "Preaching to the Perverted". Holly was one of the "NEA Four", a group of artists who sued the Federal Government over funding restrictions, ending up in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. Holly is both incredibly funny and incredibly deep in her examination of one lesbian's adventure at the Supreme Court. Mixing the lyrical language for which she is well known with scathing political commentary she takes on the issues of censorship, decency, family values, and even lesbian chic. A gifted comedian, she has a fresh and funny point of view. Her observations on contemporary society appeal to a wider audience then she might ever imagine.
u Canyon Sam
Nationally acclaimed writer and performance artist, Canyon Sam creates solo performances based on her experiences in both Asia and America as an activist and Buddhist practitioner. In her show, "Capacity to Enter" Canyon explores what happens when an Asian lesbian and Buddhist find desire, identity, and commitments at odds. Finely drawn character monologues include an exiled Zen Master, 1970's radical lesbian separatist, a bewildered Chinese-American mother, and a zestful Italian cook. A hilarious tour of what happens when politics, spirituality, and hormones all pull in opposite directions, Canyon's program is appropriate for a multitude of areas in programming as she addresses bisexuality, multiculturalism and diversity. Known for fluidity and grace, Canyon has performed all over the U.S. and Canada and has certainly been an inspiration to many.

In "FTM", David's transformation is juxtaposed with that of his mother who is experiencing changes in her own body as a result of breast cancer. Their stories, sometimes funny, frequently poignant, are told through dreams, anecdotes, and remembrances. David's underlining theme of alienation is a universal one. His quest to feel comfortable in his own skin and to be accepted by others makes "FTM" a must see.
